Kitsap Lake Elementary Safe Routes to School

Project Status

Work is complete and the City is working with the Contractor and WSDOT for project close-out.

Project Overview

In June 2017, the City received a $1,750,000 Safe Routes to School Grant to install a sidewalk along Harlow Drive from Kitsap Way to Osprey Circle. In addition to the sidewalks, lighting, school speed zone signs, and crosswalk treatments will be installed. The new sidewalk will provide a safe route for children to walk to Kitsap Lake Elementary and vastly improve the walkability of the Kitsap Lake neighborhood.

Public Meetings

The City of Bremerton Public Works and Utilities introduced its 2018 construction program at a community meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The Kitsap Lake Safe Routes to School project was discussed.

There were project specific meetings held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 to discuss the 30% Design and Tuesday, November 27, 2018 to discuss the final design at Kitsap Lake Elementary School Gym/Commons Room. Several comments were received from the neighborhood at these meetings and have been incorporated into the design.
