Residents living near the City of Bremerton Water Utility property located on the corner of Roosevelt and Third Avenue, please be advised of tree removal taking place this week.
This 7.6 -acre site is the location of two critical drinking water facilities: Reservoir 4 and the Corrosion Control Facility.
The site has a lot of fir trees on its western side. These trees are causing maintenance problems for the reservoir cover and additionally could cause great damage to this critical facility should a large tree fall on the reservoir.
For these reasons, the city will be removing the majority of the trees on the west side of the property. The tree removal is anticipated to start the week of October 15. New plantings will be installed in Spring of 2019. Our goal is to make this an attractive site for the neighborhood.
Because this site contains two critical water facilities, the site will also be fenced to increase security. The fence is anticipated to be installed by the end of 2018.
This project went through a forest conversion process through the Washington Department of Natural Resources. A State Environmental Policy Act review through the Bremerton Department of Community Development was conducted and resulted in a Determination of Non-significance.
