Michael Riley has been named Director of Financial Services for the City of Bremerton. Previously, Riley has held the role of Assistant Director of Financial Services for the past five years. Prior to joining the city, he served as Assistant Audit Manager for the Washington State Auditor’s Office for nine years. In that position, he conducted audits of small and large government entities including the City of Bremerton. He has also served as Audit Lead for the Department of Revenue. Riley has served as the Interim Director of Financial Services for the city on two occasions.
Riley earned an Associates Degree from Olympic College and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Central Washington University. His official appointment will require City Council approval.
In addition to Riley’s professionalism and strong qualifications, Mayor Wheeler stated that he has witnessed Riley’s leadership ability after running the department these past few months and is confident Riley will provide strong management and oversight.
Caroline Tompson has been promoted to Assistant Director of Financial Services. She has worked for the City of Bremerton for 13 years as the City’s Budget Analyst and previously served as an Accountant for 5 years at the City of Port Orchard. Tompson has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Central Washington University.
