Bremerton Parks and Recreation staff in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Commission have been working over the past 11 months to update the city’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan, which provides a road map to develop a quality system of parks, open spaces, trails and recreation facilities.
The 2020-2025 PROS Plan will be used to guide the development and operation of the city’s park and recreation system and is required to be updated every six years to maintain eligibility for state and federal grants.
Public input collected since January is incorporated in the draft PROS Plan including citizen input received in a survey that was widely advertised over a 3-month period through the city’s website, email “blasts”, social media and laminated flyers posted at parks. Members of the public along with the 365 survey respondents were invited to attend the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting held on May 28th.
A complete copy of the draft PROS Plan, including maps and survey responses, is available for review until November 12th along with an online comment form. *If you wish to provide a comment in person, the Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss the draft PROS plan at their regular business meeting on Tuesday, October 22nd which begins at 5:30 p.m. at Sheridan Park Community Center located at 680 Lebo Blvd.
