Beach Sewer Decommissioning Projects

Since 2014 the City has decommissioned several thousand feet of gravity and pressure sewers in the marine environment. These beach sewers were difficult to access and maintain, contributed to grit entering the City’s sewer system, and were susceptible to sanitary sewer discharges to water bodies. The City has projects in the 2026-2031 Wastewater Capital Improvement Program to remove additional beach sewers, with a focus on Ostrich Bay.  As of January 2026, the City is soliciting proposals from consultants to proceed with the planning of future projects in Ostrich Bay.
