Well 6R Rehabilitation

Project Overview

Well 6R was drilled into the Deep Artesian Aquifer in 2004 to a depth of 640 feet below ground surface. The well was redeveloped in 2021 due to lower-than-anticipated pumping water levels, and loss of efficiency. Based on current observed well production and impacts of previous efficiency loss, additional redevelopment is required. To minimize wear to the existing well column, a combination of impulse generation and mechanical development techniques will be utilized during rehabilitation.

Project Status (January 12, 2026)

At this time, the City is currently reviewing proposals from hydrogeology firms to provide technical support during design and field activity.  Design will begin upon execution of the contract with hydrogeologist, with an anticipated start of rehabilitation activity in May 2026 and lasting last 60 days.
