New MultiCare Emergency Dept. Coming to Bremerton Region
MultiCare Health System has announced it will be opening an emergency room in the Bremerton area! Groundbreaking for construction of the new Bremerton facility is scheduled for Spring 2023.
“This is great news for our community,” said Mayor Greg Wheeler. “The new MultiCare facility will supplement the current emergency services offered in our region. Once completed, the emergency department will help increase capacity, availability and access to care for residents in Bremerton as well as across Kitsap County.”
Mayor Wheeler began working with MultiCare last year, meeting with the healthcare system’s leadership to discuss Bremerton’s needs. He also met with MultiCare’s leaders this past October to continue building a long-term partnership.
“I thoroughly appreciated MulitCare’s commitment to discussing opportunities for our area,” said Mayor Wheeler. “We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with MultiCare into the future.”
The MultiCare emergency department will fill an important need for local residents. St. Michael Medical Center, owned and operated by Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, closed its emergency department in Bremerton in 2021 due to staffing issues and residents are currently transported to St. Michael’s remaining emergency department in Silverdale.
MultiCare’s new emergency room facility will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offer patient rooms, observation rooms along with X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scans on-site. The 10,500-square-foot facility will be located at 5900 State Highway 303 NE.
