Lori Wheat represents Bremerton City Council District 4 which includes neighborhoods near Downtown, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Olympic College.

Due to the election of Mayor Greg Wheeler (former Council Member), Lori was appointed to the District 4 position and served until the General Election results were certified on November 5, 2019. She was then elected to office for her first term through 2023.

In 2020, Lori is Vice-Chair for the Public Works Committee; and also serves on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Project Review Committee. Council Member Wheat is also one of two representatives from the City of Bremerton on the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council.

She has also been awarded the Certificate of Municipal Leadership by the Association of Washington Cities.

The CML Program recognizes city and town elected officials for accomplishing training (over 30 hours) in the following four core areas:
  • Roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements
  • Public sector resource management
  • Community planning and development
  • Effective local leadership
The CML Program “helps mayors and council members sharpen the tools they need today to understand the legal landscape, plan for the future, manage their resources, and foster strong relationships. The elected officials who earn this certificate demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to bring new ideas back to their community.”
