District 2 - Leslie Daugs

Leslie is currently serving her fourth term through 2023 and is the 2021 Council Vice-President. Leslie is Chair for the City Council’s Race Equity Advisory Committee and Audit Committee; is a member of the Kitsap Transit Board of Commissioners; Kitsap 911 Policy Board; Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council; and is the alternate to the West Central Local Integrating Organization.

Council Member Daugs was awarded the Certificate of Municipal Leadership in 2013 by the Association of Washington Cities. The CML Program is designed to enhance the ability of elected municipal officials. The program provides mayors and council members in Washington with knowledge and skills required for effective governance. To earn this certificate, the official attends a variety of AWC sponsored municipal workshops; including sessions on budgeting, land use planning, personnel, and leadership. The courses help the mayors and council members learn the essentials of municipal service and improve their ability to work with council colleagues, city staff, and citizens.

Leslie grew up here and raised all of her children here with her husband Daryl. For her entire adult life, she has been focused on Bremerton’s families and kids, including as a foster parent in the community. She works as a campus security officer for Mountain View Middle School where she is responsible for the safety and well-being of over 900 kids every day. She plays several games of soccer every week on Parks Department fields. She states she has the energy and drive to represent the neighborhoods and families of East Bremerton.

Leslie states that Downtown Bremerton has been the focus of most of the revitalization so she plans to continue being an advocate for East Bremerton and the Wheaton Way corridor that, in particular, needs rehabilitation and a voice on the City Council because to flourish, “the community needs a thriving East Bremerton with a pedestrian-friendly business district, restaurants, and safe local parks”. She is concerned about the neighborhoods, the families, and the kids of District 2, and is happy to have the opportunity to serve the families of Bremerton.
