Annexation

Annexation is the process by which a property or group of properties outside of, but adjacent to, the boundaries of the City of Bremerton becomes part of the City. It is the primary means of physical growth for the City. The annexation process is established and regulated by State Statutes. In its simplest form, the process begins when a majority of the owners of property in an area adjacent to the City submit a written petition requesting that their property become part of the City. People choose to annex for a variety of reasons, the most common of which is to obtain municipal sanitary sewer and water services. Annexations need to be located within the City’s urban growth area (UGA) boundaries.
