This notice begins the 5-day public comment period for an amendment to the City of Bremerton 2019 Action Plan to include the use of CDBG-CV Funds.
The City of Bremerton is an Entitlement Community under the federally funded Community Development Block Grant Program and a Participating Jurisdiction under the federally funded HOME Investment Partnership Program. Funds are received annually from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for local projects that primarily benefit low income people.
2019 Action Plan Amendment
As an Entitlement Community, the City of Bremerton will receive $268,383 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), signed into law on March 27, 2020, to prevent, prepare for and respond to coronavirus. Affordable housing, including rental assistance, has continually been a top priority and rental assistance has become even more urgent due to the increased number of households unable to work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the City of Bremerton City Council during a Public Hearing where public testimony was received, which took place April 15th, 2020 directed all funding to the Bremerton Housing Authority to administer emergency rental assistance. The projects awarded CDBG-CV funds are included in the 2019 Action Plan Amendment.
The 2019 Action Plan Amendment is available for review on the City’s website (address below). Following the close of the comment period, the Plan will be submitted to HUD
