A Public Hearing will be held during the Bremerton City Council regularly scheduled meeting on November 5th at 5:30 PM to review the 2026 City of Bremerton Projected Use of Funds to be included in the City of Bremerton 2025 Action Plan and Draft 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan.

The City of Bremerton has issued a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for CDBG eligible projects included in the 2026 Coordinated Grant Application cycle. This notice details eligibility requirements, estimated amount of funds available, the application process and other important information. Policy Plan & Application Intent

Policy Plan – Public Comment Period Opens

• City of Bremerton is seeking public comment on the 2026 CDBG/HOME Policy Plan which outline policies and priorities for 2026 funding. The funding priorities included in the 2026 Policy Plan is the result of the planning process for the updated 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan.  
• A 15-day public comment period opens May 1st, 2025, and runs through May 16th.

Application Intent/Pre-Application Interest 

• The Application Intent form for 2026 CDBG/HOME is available from May 2nd to May 16th by clicking here. 
• Application Intent/Pre-Application Interest forms are required for all new applicants.

City of Bremerton adopted Resolution No. 3409 providing for the submission to the voters on August 4, 2026, a proposition authorizing the City to increase the general property tax levy by a rate of $0.48 per thousand of assessed valuation for collection beginning in 2027. The Fire Department is accepting names of people interested in participating in voter pamphlet statement pro and con committees.

Citizens interested in participating, email Fire Chief Pat McGanney by April 7, 2026, at Patrick.McGanney@ci.bremerton.wa.us. Statements must be completed and submitted to the Kitsap County Elections Division by May 1, 2026.

Traffic Calming Coming to Almira Drive

The City of Bremerton conducted a speed study on Almira Drive at Clemens Street in December of 2025. This study found excessive speeding in the 25 mph zone on the roadway.

In response to this speeding and utilizing the recently adopted Traffic Calming Policy, the City will be installing a “quick-build” measure at the intersection. This measure is referred to as a chicane and will narrow the roadway along with requiring drivers to navigate the slight bends in the alignment using paint and delineators. Installation will be as weather permits by City crews this Spring.  

Permanent improvements to the roadway will be constructed with the upcoming Phase 2 View Ridge Elementary – Almira Safe Routes to School project. For more information on this project please visit the project webpage.

Mayor’s Initiatives 2026

As the Mayor of the City of Bremerton, I am pleased to share my initiatives for 2026. Since my first year in office in 2018, these initiatives have reflected our commitment to economic growth and for improving the quality of life for residents.

This year, we’re continuing to make progress on housing and commercial development, revitalizing parks and recreation spaces, supporting arts and culture, and enhancing public safety. We’re also investing in infrastructure upgrades, transportation improvements, and programs that strengthen our community. We are also making preparations for Bremerton to transform into an official Fan Zone during the World Cup in Seattle this summer!

These are just a few of the initiatives outlined for 2026 that will help support residents, businesses, and job growth well into the future. I invite you to take a moment to review this year’s initiatives and see how they will shape Bremerton in 2026.
