Mayor Greg Wheeler Selects Alejandra Pulido for the 2021 Mayor’s Youth Leadership Award
Mayor Greg Wheeler is proud to announce the selection of Alejandra Pulido as the recipient of the 2021 Mayor’s Youth Leadership Award and a $250 scholarship.
Pulido is committed to human rights and equality and aspires to be a human rights attorney. Her long-term goal is to run for state and national elected office. A daughter of immigrants, she is a leading member in the Kitsap Advocating for Immigrants Rights and Equality (KAIRE) organization and works on organizing, fundraising and advocacy. She publicly speaks on issues facing immigrants and has written on behalf of KAIRE for the Kitsap Sun. Pulido is also a participant and contributor to the social justice movement in Kitsap County.
Recently, she was recognized for her contributions to human rights in our community with the 2020 Kitsap County Human Rights “Linda Gabriel – Youth Award.”
In addition to her work helping others, her leadership involvement extends to school activities. She serves as ASB public relations executive at Bremerton High School, DECA secretary and as a member of the orchestra’s leadership board. Pulido has also played basketball and music for several years at her high school.
“Alejandra Pulido is a young leader dedicated to social justice and equality and is focused on helping others in our community. I’m very pleased to recognize Alejandra for her outstanding commitment with the 2021 Mayor’s Youth Leadership Award,” said Mayor Greg Wheeler.
The Mayor’s Youth Leadership Award is an annual program started by Mayor Greg Wheeler that recognizes exceptional youth in the City of Bremerton. For information on the scholarship program, visit the

Pulido’s application was also submitted for the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center for Quality Communities scholarship, which recognizes exceptional students statewide. Six winners of the AWC scholarship will each be awarded $1,500 for their education and will be notified by May 2021.
